This is what I have as of Friday. I was sick last weekend so I didn't do a lot. 

So I added a factory in the back and decided to do it towards the top and copied some parts of it to fill in the sides. the lower half is sedimentary rock which is where fossils are more likely to be found and I thought fit the theme. I added some graves to transition from the grave to the rock. I also added a gradient to the background to fill in the white spots.

For the central piece, I might make it a bit light or the background a little darker so that it pops out more. I still have add a piece and the shadows, but besides that, I don't think I will add anything else.

 I have had a bit of struggle trying to fill in my tracing with gradient so I still have to work on that.  So far, I have traced the main piece. I used the top of the lantern and handle from the pepper crusher into one. I plan on adding shadows of people in the small gaps towards the top.  My inspiration as soon as I put these two together was the book called "Tender is the flesh". To those who have read it, you know it definitely is a choice. The main point of the story is food scarcity and the desperate measures was cannibalism. The disconnection or empathy in the beginning was very impactful for me. So I want to make a piece inspired by that disconnection.  This image of the factory will probably be in some part of the image, towards the bottom. I also have in mind to add conveyer belts using the arms of the lanterns and manipulating them to the right angles. I will try to figure out the issue I am having with gradient and will post an updated image soon.
