Project 5 - Animated Gif - Progress

Image
One thing I noticed from my previous draft, is that the hand randomly changes from right to left and it irked me so I had to go back and changed it. So instead of seeing the back of the hand, I redrew it so it was the inside of it. Hands are scary to draw. I continued to add to the gif and fix some details. There is more to fix but I have been enjoying this project the most.  I also did a colored version. I played around with the transition times a bit and added a few more frames.

Here is my work for the final. This is based off my favorite show and the instrument on her wrist is called. a log pose. It is compass of sorts so I made it rotate and I think I did pretty well. Using the ipad, I was able to draw all of the frames and it is actually enjoyable. So I will continue to work on it and fix some details and maybe add to it. I only used one frame from the show as a reference and multiple picture of hands.

Here is my first try in doing an animation. I have never done this before so mercy. I went to the library to check out a ipad and see if I was able to draw into photoshop. So here is a cannon with a lit flame.  I was more trying how to draw the next frame than consistency.

Project 4 - Visual Sequential Narrative - Final

Here is my final image.   This can convey many messages, but the main one is what is relatable in all points of history. The people standing up to the government after tolerating so much. The change of the background in the panels was and idea i got after the NYC mayor election. After the day of the election, there was a pink and purple sunset with clouds and it looked beautiful. So after a victory (for some), the world rejoices. The masked person can resemble anyone. I didn't add any gender to the person so that it not restricted by gender.  In the end, it is up for interpretation. What I like about my image is that you can still see what I hand drew. The main parts that I did on photo shop was redoing the rectangles and the background of each panel. I used the generative ai to smooth over some mistakes and added the people in the last panel.

I used the scanner at the library but didn't like how the image came out with shadows. So I used an app called CamScanner that allows me to take a picture of my drawing and whitens the page. I opened it up on Photoshop to start working on it. This is what I have so far.

After my meeting with Ed, I decided to redo it and tried to make the focal points more obvious or impactful. I looked back to the comic books or manga that i've read and thought about how to move my rectangles around. Here is my progress as of now. I did the main subjects for the graphic comic and he rest I will play around with photoshop to see how I can add to it.

Here is my progress work so far.  This story itself should be apparent. A masked man shooting a flag a burns it. In the original story, this action was a declaration of war towards the government who were being oppressive and abusing their power. This can be relatable to the real world and the various amount of protest going on today.  Here is started outlining and adding color. I've been using pen for outlining and shading, permanent markers for shadows and saturation, and sharpie creative markers to color in and colored pencils for texture. It is my first time doing anything like this so there was a bit of a learning curve in the first image. In the second one, you can see it looks a bit smoother.
